The respite girl

I know she is 16. They told me she was 16. I could swear that she was four though. Really.

"Can I watch Buffy?"
"Sure." [I'm working on my lap top in the living room. I can tune it out.]
"My mom won't let me watch it at home because she's a Christian."
"Hmm."
"How do I put in the DVD?'
"Don't you remember from yesterday?"
"Oh yeah. I just push this button right?"
"Right".
"How do I turn off the radio? Do I push this button?"
"Yep. The one labeled 'power.'"
"How do I set the TV?"
I do that for her.

"What was the last one that I watched?"
"You're kidding, right?"
"Was it on this disk?"
"I don't know. You were the one who watched it."
"Should I try this disk?"
"Sure. Give it a whirl."

She gets it on. She watches. She leaves. She comes back. Don't you just hate that?

"What's happening?"
"I have not been watching."
"Huh?"
"I don't know."
"Who's that guy?"
"Which guy?"
"Huh?"
"Oh for Pete's sake, what do you want to know?"
"What?"
"Are you having trouble hearing me?"
"No."

"Is he still a vampire?"
"Yes."
"Why is he talking like that?"
"He's possessed by a ghost."
"Huh?"
"It's a ghost."
"I thought he was a vampire. When did he die?"
"The vampire or the ghost?"
"Huh?"
"What do you want to know?"
"I don't understand."
