The Dangers of Texting

Recommendation from Gary to the world at large:

Don't assume that you know who you are texting based upon the phone number on the screen.

Cause it sucks when you realize that you not actually texting the girl you have the crush on and are instead texting the girl you have been trying discourage.

It really sucks when you have been doing it for two or three hours.

  2. Oh how sad and funny! I think in the cell phone age that we all do assume that the number is the person. That is what cell usage is about -- you are calling a person,as opposed to the old days of calling a place and asking for a person.

I wonder if the girls were in on it?

  3. I don't think the girls were in on it. What I didn't make clear was that the girls' cell phone numbers are different by just one number. He hadn't bothered to put them into his contacts so the screen just showed a phone number, which he thought he recognized.

At least until he got a text message from the other girl.

  7. Is it really mean of me to be laughing right now?

Ah, the tribulations of the teen years.

    *giggle*

  8. Thank you all for your sympathy for Gary! And thanks for giving me a safe place to share the humor of it all. I was giggling myself.

He seems to have coped with it pretty well. He just texted the first girls and said (he tells me), "I'm really sorry I thought you were someone else."

    The kid's got ... something.

Of course he is in an enviable place. (See the next post).
