Not today
Today I read the election results.
Can I be happy about anything happening across the country?
Not yet. Not today.
Today I will mourn that I live in the reddest state in the country. Today I will mourn that it is worse. Today I will try to believe that I can keep fighting.
We are obviously pretty unhappy with the results of the election as well. Since many states are passing laws that forbid gay marriage, but sanction domestic partnerships, we are hoping that a constitutional challenge on the grounds of "separate but not equal" may eventually resolve the issue.
ReplyDeleteIt is a sad, sad thing that our country believes it's okay to base people's rights on sexual orientation.
I still have to get through all the results having been offline for a day.
ReplyDeleteSome of the bright pink states turned pale blue so there may be hope yet.
