Frankie's Hair

He said he wanted to grow it out, but it is very curly and sort of grew UP.

So he wanted a hair cut.

And then he asked them to shave it off.

except for a two inch rat tail.

  1. Oh, what a complicated guy is your Frankie.
And from one who knows, the "growing up" stage of "growing out" curly hair is painful indeed. It takes a lot of determination and a lot of hair product....

  3. You are kidding, right?

    No, I suspect not.

Buzz cut, rat tail, frilly dress, and obsessed with a video game.

Does Frankie wear army boots, too?

I can only imagine what the entire thing looks like.

    Good luck with that.

  4. Oh, Frankie.

When you are older you are going to appreciate so, so much that hair grows.

  5. Oh My Goodness. He just keeps coming up with more and more "distinctive" Frankie things, doesn't he?

  6. I can't help but notice here that this is another way that Frankie is starting over. He's finally in a place that's "free" of "rules" and can finally figure out who he is.

I haven't commented lately because most of these posts hit home. In short, Frankie doesn't get that what his father was doing was not normal. Because when you grow up with something - that's "normal." You have to be out for a long time to be able to finally understand what's truly "normal" and what's not. I had a post about this some time ago, I will look to see if it was one of the ones I deleted.

Here, at your house, he's trying to figure out what "normal" is while also trying to figure out "who" he is. The fact that you are so open and understanding is what's making that possible and is highly commendable. At some point though, he will have to conform a little bit to get along with society (especially in the midwest Red state). But he can come to NY, he'll fit in with all of the buzzed, rat tail, falsies, in a black slip dress with WOW tattoos folks we have living here and working at your local Starbucks, book store, or McD's. And in NY he won't even get a second look, lol.
