at least it isn't about my uterus

I came home from work early. I am in the eye of the Hurricane of Grading. I didn't sleep well, and I don't have any appointments with students.

I'm trying not to be anxious while I await the results from the ultrasound. I'm trying not to get nervous over thing that should not make me nervous...you know, like the fact that my physician said that it would take about a week to get the results from the ultrasound and the technician who did it assured me that I would hear today or tomorrow. Of course I go to, "Did she see something that is making me high priority, or was my regular doc wrong about how long it takes?"

So here I am, sort of hoping they call about the results and what do you know? The phone rings and it is the doctor's office!

On Saturday I went in for the routine blood tests that I forgot to do last fall. My doctor wants to talk to me about the results of my kidney function test.

This is just not right. I would really like to be worried about one organ system at a time, thank you very much.

  1. ugh...I hate those vague.."come in to discuss" type calls...I wish they would either say "hey..everything is fine but I'm required to tell you in person or hey...you are screwed so make sure someone comes with you" - hoping ALL systems are in order! hugs

  2. or its like it was with us..."um, we somehow had a mixup in the lab/lost your sample/lost your results" or "your sample was overdiluted" (because I couldn't pee when they needed it, so I drank a bunch of water and then peed)

  5. that's kind of like dropping a hammer on your foot to forget about the headache. Someone should time life's moments better. I've had several kidney calls, there are so many things that can show up in kidney tests that don't amount to anything. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Watch out for falling hammers.

  6. thanks everyone...

and Bacchus that is really what I need to hear. I know nothing about kidney function tests.

Oh, I have to wait until Wednesday afternoon to get the information.

  7. That's when it pays to have OCD! I always say, this will send me into heightened OCD, you need to tell me now over the phone or I will be in later today standing at your desk waiting for you. It works everytime! :)

  8. I should have thought about that, Sheri! Maybe I can call tomorrow and tell them that I can only handle worrying about whether I have uterine cancer OR kidney failure, not both at the same time.
