Just a moment.
I went to pick him up at his friend's and when I got to the neighborhood I called him on his cell.
"Hi Yondalla."
"Hi Gary. I'm here, but I don't know which door to go to. What's the number?"
"I don't know."
"Well, could you put your someone on?"
"Okay."
Then in the background I hear him saying to someone, "My mom wants to talk to you."
Wow.
ReplyDeleteThats very touching.
Brought my out of lurkerville, anyway.
You've been doing a great job with, Gary. I hope he gets to stay with you. :)
Aww.
ReplyDeleteOn one hand, it might just be easier to him to call you that then describe the more complex situation. On the other hand, maybe he's starting to feel that comfortable.
You may have a new situation on your hands. You and Roland have always had either an aunt/uncle or a mom/dad type of relationship with the boys. With Gary you may end up having a mom/uncle thing.
Delurking to say awwwwww that's so sweet.
ReplyDeleteI just love how this is all unfolding. He really sounds like an amazing kid.
I love what you do and I love reading about it. You are truly an inspiration to many.
A total lurker in Canada.
Laurie
Gee. It isn't even de-lurking week!
ReplyDeleteLove to hear from you all!
That's very sweet. Gary seems TOO good to be true :-)
ReplyDeleteAwwww!! Heart melting.
ReplyDeleteHe sounds like a great kid. How did his remark make you feel?
ReplyDeleteWow...part of me was thinking that it's probably easier not having to explain but after reading all the entries I'm wondering if he's craving that type of attachment...either way it's still sweet!
