It *would* be a lot easier if Frankie were 8, that's for sure, but I think there is a very fine line between stepping on Frankie's toes by being too blunt about why Brian and his friends don't want Frankie around, and having Brian feel pushed out of the house as he heads into being a teen. I haven't had teens yet, so take what I have to say with some salt, for sure, but I wouldn't want my kid to feel like he could only have fun with his friends away from home. I've always subscribed to the idea that I want *my* house to be where the kids hang out, so I can keep abreast of what is going on. Just in that one interaction you described, I worry about Brian choosing more and more to be elsewhere.

I don't feel like I said that very eloquently, but hopefully you followed :) And, like I said, I havent' btdt yet, so I may be off-base.

ebetit at gmail dot comElsahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01005299025859210576noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21112957.post-73992375186941816472007-10-15T08:43:00.000-06:002007-10-15T08:43:00.000-06:00Do you think it would help if you couched it with ...Do you think it would help if you couched it with the statement, "I notice you seem to get more frustrated with your electronic time than Andrew or Brian, so we are going to have to come up with different rules for you to help you feel less frustrated."FosterAbbahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11431773317761777407noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21112957.post-17538926223695945032007-10-14T20:32:00.000-06:002007-10-14T20:32:00.000-06:00with the right explination, it might not be so dif...with the right explination, it might not be so difficult. maybe if you go at it from the frustration and anger side of things. then again, i can see it sending him off into woe is me land yet again. good luck!cathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12871824703791165363noreply@blogger.com
